Jeff Probst Jokes He’ll Risk ‘Parasites’ on Survivor After Eating Contestants’ Food

It turns out that years of hosting Survivor have made Jeff Probst a survivor himself. He showed just how courageous he is by risking parasites and more when he ate some peanut butter that the contestants previously used their germ-filled hands to eat.

Looking back, he doesn’t regret the risk. Jeff later admitted that after all these years on the show, there probably isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the game. Eating potentially contaminated peanut butter is just further proof of his commitment to the long-running CBS series.

Jeff Probst reiterates his commitment to the show

Understandably though, people were shocked and concerned. Jay Wolff, Jeff’s cohost on his podcast On Fire with Jeff Probst, confirmed the details of that moment.

“Was that the actual peanut butter that the players who had not showered or washed their hands in two weeks had been eating?” Jay asked. To which Jeff replied, “Yes it was!”

Jay continued, “I just want it to be noted that I give everything for this show! I’m willing to risk bacterial infections, viral infections, parasites, or just general illness just to encourage future players to apply to be on Survivor!” Jeff has even already begun putting together ideas for Survivor’s 50th season! That’s commitment.

The peanut butter incident took place during the show’s coveted auction. Contestants race to find gems, bid on items they need for the competition, and eat food that is not found in the wilderness.

Contestants Sierra Wright, Gabe Ortis, and Caroline Vidmar were presented with vats of peanut butter and chocolate. And they were so thrilled, that they dove right in with their hands!

And it was after this that Jeff called on the audience of the show to apply. “Okay, the players are still walking off, but if the auction looks fun, apply to be on Survivor.” To hammer the point home, he dipped his pinky finger into the potentially germ-riddled peanut butter and then into his mouth.

He knew how potentially gross it was, but Jeff is fully committed to the show. And not just by eating questionable food. He also keeps himself in shape to keep up with the contestants. After all, 47 seasons in, Jeff is an honorary Survivor too!
