Jennifer Lopez files for divorce from Ben AffleckJennifer Lopez was left mortified after a reporter made a brutal quip about her age.
The actress and singer, 55, has been getting caught up in scandals in recent months, following the arrest of her former lover P Diddy. On top of this, Jennifer has been going through a bitter divorce from her husband Ben Affleck, which is hurting her deeply.
However, Jennifer has decided to throw herself into her work as a distraction from all the chaos going on in her personal life. Now, the actress - who made a name for herself in Hollywood with the likes of Enough and Hustlers - is gearing up for her next movie project.
Titled Unstoppable, the film follows the true story of Anthony Robles - who manages to climb his way to the top of the wrestling leagues in college, despite only being born with one leg. In the film, Jennifer plays the role of Judy, Anthony's mother, as she supports him through his awe-inspiring journey.
Speaking about her new role, Jennifer gushed over the possibility to play an amazing woman. "These types of roles change you in a way when you allow them to, because they come to you at times in your life when you need them, and they help you grow, and they heal you in a way," she added.
Being released via Prime Video, Jennifer - along with the rest of the cast - appeared at a Q&A session following the first screening of the film. But during the course of the event, one reporter left her completely speechless after bringing up her age, RadarOnline reports.
At the session, which was moderated by Variety magazine's senior awards editor Clayton Davis on Sunday (December 15), the host stunned the room after saying she was "getting up there" in terms of age. The comment was made amid the 30th anniversary of her first film Selena - which catapulted her to fame.
He explained: "You'll be 60 by then." An awestruck Jennifer then hit back: "Wow!" as Clayton added: "Which is getting up there."
The Hollywood actress appeared to then clutch her microphone, as members of the audience gasped in shock. A video captured of the incident caught one stunned attendee asking: "Did he really just say that?"
Ever the professional, J-Lo tried to move past the comment, laughing the awkwardness off with Davis before continuing: "I am. It's funny when you say that I'm 'getting up there'."
In an attempt to save face, Clayton apologised and claimed the dig was a "joke", adding he "would never" speak to the hitmaker that way in a serious context. Jennifer understood, and went on to thank her fans for the continued support they have given her over the years.
"What a journey this has been, and I honestly feel that the best is yet to come," she beamed with joy, as she received a rapturous applause from the audience. She went on to explain that as she has grown older, she finds role help her to dig "deeper" into herself, and find out more about who she is "as a person and an artist".
