EastEnders star Joe Swash has shared the key to keeping a happy marriage despite being so busy around the Christmas period. He and his superstar wife, Stacey Solomon, both try their best to juggle busy work schedules with raising their three shared children - Rex, Rose and Belle - as well as each having children from previous relationships.

Speaking to Express.co.uk about some of his upcoming projects, Joe explained what Christmas time would look like for him and his family, who all live in their stunning Pickle Cottage home. The soap star admitted that he felt "super lucky" for the life that he has.

He said: "I feel super lucky that I am in the same industry as Stacey. We try as much as possible to not work on the same day and when we aren’t working, we always spend it together as a family. Everyone has busy lives but we all just try and manage as best as we can."

Telling the publication about how he plans to spend Christmas, Joe added: "It usually starts around 5 or 5.30am when the kids get up. We like to have an open door policy at our house to friends and family and just have a really relaxed day.

"We like to put the fire on, get the Christmas dinner on the table and play games with all of the family. I love it.

"I love watching the kids on the day and spending the day as a family. We usually put on a few Christmas films and it’s just a really fun day for everyone."

Joe is currently starring in the 2024 pantomime Beauty and the Beast at The Grove Theatre in Bedfordshire as Buttons. Expanding on his work commitments, Joe said: "Doing panto again this year has been great too. The kids love it and I’m so glad they get to come back stage, meet the cast and see the show."

The star also recently made a return to BBC's EastEnders, where he resprised the role of Mickey Miller. When asked what he most enjoyed about making a comeback in Albert Square, the 42-year-old actor said: " Working and catching up with Mo again.

"Plus, all the happy memories that came back to me that I had forgotten about. I love the fact that it’s not changed too much since I was last there and it just felt pretty normal to be back there again. All the production, crew and cast have been amazing!"
