Strictly star Amy Dowden 'may be forced to quit show' after being rushed to hospital

Strictly star Amy Dowden may be forced to leave the show after she reportedly collapsed backstage this weekend.

The 34-year-old pro and her JLS partner JB Gill wowed the judges, bagging a score of 32 for their foxtrot to 'Dancing In The Moonlight' by Toploader on Saturday's show.

Anton Du Beke called it a "super duper performance", while Craig Revel Horwood reckoned Gill could've pushed the scarecrow character even further.

But drama unfolded just moments after they left the dancefloor, with reports suggesting Amy felt unwell suddenly. An ambulance was swiftly called 'as a precaution'.

Speaking out about the incident, Amy's rep shared: "Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy's privacy in matters of health is kindly respected."

Amy Dowden fell ill shortly after her performance with JB Gill

The beloved dancer, who has been fighting cancer for nearly two years and also suffers from Crohn's Disease, might be looking at an early exit from the series, according to show insiders. If she's too poorly to perform, another pro dancer could step in temporarily, reports the Mirror.

A source told the Sun: "Amy was obviously in huge distress. Everyone around her was equally upset because they felt so helpless.

"JB had to be given a hug. Even the medic who first attended to Amy needed support and consolation. The only thing they could do was try to get her to hospital as quickly and safely as possible.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called just after 9pm on Saturday to attend a medical emergency at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient, an adult female, was taken to Barnet Hospital for further care."

Amy missed out on the results show due to health concerns, but her celeb partner JB expressed his delight over their success. Speaking to Claudia, he said: "Honestly, I'm beside myself and Amy of course is gonna be so happy that we're through to icons week. It's an amazing feeling."

He dropped a teaser about next week's episode, hinting they would be performing a medley for couple's choice week.

Later, JB hit Instagram to thank fans post-Halloween show, posting on Sunday: "On behalf of both @amy_dowden and I, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for voting for us and wishing us well. We absolutely loved our performance on Saturday night and are SO grateful to be through to another week on @bbcstrictly Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support."
