Toyah Willcox was left 'so embarrassed' by TikTok incident

Strictly star Toyah Willcox has opened up about a TikTok mishap that led to what she describes as the 'most embarrassing moment of her life'.

The unfortunate incident occurred when singer Toyah and her husband, musician Robert Fripp, were filming a new video for their social media platforms, which have garnered over 120 million views.

Toyah, 66, inadvertently left the camera on, capturing the star in her underwear as she went about her daily activities.

"It was one of the most embarrassing things I've ever done," admitted Toyah. "My husband Robert and I were dressed as unicorns for a video we were filming and I left the camera on afterwards."

She continued: "It was running for about 45 minutes and showed me getting dressed and getting ready and my team were watching and nobody told me!"

"I was just getting on with my day. I was in my underwear and I cleaned my teeth, I was singing, walking around and I cleaned the bath," she said. "My team was desperate for me to turn the camera off. When I realised what I'd done I apologised profusely. I was so embarrassed."

Toyah's tech blunder confession comes as research, commissioned by Smart Energy GB, revealed that a quarter of over-65s are keen to improve their technology skills.

According to the survey, they have concerns about online privacy and the fast pace of change which makes it challenging to keep up.

Despite this, over a third of respondents admit to lacking confidence in setting up new technology, while another third worry about not knowing how to use it once it's up and running.

Toyah shared her own experience, saying: "Technology is advancing so quickly that I sometimes find it tricky to know which gadgets to get and how to use them."

Undeterred by her mishap, Toyah remains keen to engage with modern technology. To make things more manageable, she conducts thorough research and consults with family and friends to identify user-friendly devices.

Discussing other technologies she uses, such as her smart meter, Toyah noted: "I actually found it very easy to use."

According to a poll by Smart Energy GB, three-quarters of respondents would rely on younger friends and family for assistance with tech issues. Despite concerns, 53% believe new technologies have the potential to simplify their lives.

A spokesperson for Smart Energy GB stated: " Not all tech necessarily makes life easier. But some gadgets and devices, like smart meters, are intuitive and user-friendly, crafted with simplicity in mind so that everyone can benefit, however tech savvy you might be."
