Over the years, the cast of Southern Charm has had to say hello and goodbye to multiple cast members. First, we lost Cameran Eubanks, who just didn’t want to deal with the petty drama. Then, Chelsea Messer and Naomie Olindo. Shortly after, we said goodbye to the show’s villain. Kathryn Dennis. On November 8, 2024, JT Thomas announced he would quit Southern Charm before its Season 10 premiere in December. I am a JT apologist, but I do tend to like a thirsty newcomer. Dare I say, I am going to miss the guy.
JT Thomas was the class clown of Southern Charm
Now, before we start, I realize I’m in the minority regarding missing JT. After reading a few comments, many of you seem to feel he added nothing to the show and were happy to see his backside. I, however, disagree. JT was a nice addition and added some much-needed comic relief, because some of the stuff he came up with was hilarious.
I’m not afraid to admit that I laughed hard at him running after his Uber. The man is awkwardly funny. Picture a young Martin Short. Another classic scene for me was when Craig Conover asked him to be his Valentine. He noted, “Well, I asked my mom, and she said no, so sure.”
But perhaps the funniest moment provided by JT was when he told Austen Kroll he had a demon inside him. After Andy Cohen asked how he was doing, JT bluntly stated, “I think I’m going to perform the first-ever f*ck boy exorcism.” It was refreshing to see a guy on the show that was awkward and vulnerable.
JT Thomas was an amazing Southern Charm pot stirrer
Some viewers may have found JT a bit grating, but he only ever said what we were thinking when it came to calling out his co-stars. In Season 9, JT had been standing up for the little guy (no pun intended), and it all came to a head during the season finale.
JT struggled with Taylor Ann Green not wanting him all season, especially since he was an “actual successful, good, positive man.” The Pillows and Beer podcast host had no idea what he was getting himself into. Next thing he knew, JT was shouting, “You’re a snake and a coward. You have been the genesis of why there’s so much pain and tears. Everyone here has said you are an arm’s-length friend who cannot be trusted around any woman.”
The man wasn’t wrong. And fans enjoyed the shade. After being called a “child,” JT didn’t hold back, telling Austen, “You’re a little boy who cried wolf wrapped in a 6’5″ frame.” Naturally, the Trop Hop owner lost it and pushed JT right off his perch stool. From Episode 1, it is evident that JT was a shaken, not stirred, kind of guy. And I will miss his ability to get under the guys’ skin.
JT Thomas was the gentleman Southern Charm needed
The moment Taylor walked into the room, JT was smitten. The guy never stood a chance. Taylor eventually placed him in the holding pen called the friend zone, but JT still showed viewers how a man with manners really treats a lady. The man with a possible Napoleon Complex was a knight in shining armor for the women of Southern Charm. He didn’t hold back his opinions of Shep Rose, who he noted lacked “respect for women.” Shep likely needed that wake-up call.
And it wasn’t just Shep’s inability to keep it in his pants that annoyed JT. The two-season wonder was given the ick when Shep drank out of the milk carton and didn’t appreciate the OG not telling everyone he had COVID-19 when in the Carolina mountains. Bravo’s knight in shining armor also rode into battle for Madison LeCroy after Austen talked down to her. It was really nice to see one of the guys stick up for what was right for once. Whatever JT does next, I wish him well. During the premiere, I’ll make sure to pour a drink out in his honor.
Southern Charm is available to stream on Peacock.
