Eamonn Holmes and his partner Katie Alexander are said to have shared flirty exchanges 12 years ago, according to a recent report.

The revelation comes after Eamonn, aged 64, made headlines with the shocking news of his separation from Ruth Langsford. The couple split back in May following 14 years of marriage.

While previous reports said Eamonn and 42-year-old Katie Alexander connected on social media in 2015, new claims suggest they actually met in 2012. Katie’s ex-husband George, who she divorced in 2022 after 12 years of marriage, is said to have been a part of their early friendship.

George, 53, joked that there was "flirting" between Katie and Eamonn, even quipping on X, previously known as Twitter: "Good job we're both Red," referencing their mutual support for Manchester United.

A source told The Sun: "We knew Eamonn and Katie got together via social media, but no one knew how far back they went. Ruth will be shocked they were in contact 12 years ago. I don't think she would have known."

Insiders have hinted that Eamonn Holmes often engaging with his followers, suggesting he "gets a buzz" from responding to fans. They also revealed that there was a genuine spark between him and Katie, which blossomed into romance.

"At the outset George joined in with the online banter. He would never have guessed Katie was going to get together with Eamonn years down the line," they shared.

However, there is no hint that Eamonn and Katie were involved romantically while they were both married.

The news comes after Ruth Langsford opened up about her lack of contingency plans. In a candid chat with Woman & Home, the Loose Women star conceded she's always been without a fallback strategy. She shared with the publication: "I don't have a plan B because I never had a plan A. Ever!"

Ruth also didn't hold back in expressing admiration for her son, Jack, describing him as: "The most delightful, caring and wonderful young man." Additionally, in the same conversation, she hinted at keeping the door open to love despite her surprising marital separation, voicing hope for her son to find lasting happiness in his own love life.

When questioned about her deepest desire, Ruth openly responded: "Happiness. Happiness for my son Jack. When you have children, you look at them starting out in life and you just want everything to be good for them, for them to be happy and to not have their hearts broken."

In a statement from their representative in May, Ruth and Eamonn's split was confirmed, saying: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

The Express has reached out to Eamonn's representatives for comment.
