As the investigation into Liam Payne's death continues, one of Liam's good friends is now refusing to cooperate with authorities amid calls he is responsible for his passing
911 call released moments before Liam Payne's deathOne of Liam Payne's close friends is refusing to work with authorities as investigations continue.
Authorities in Argentina are continuing their lines of enquiry following Liam's shock passing on October 16, at the age of 31. The star fell 40ft to his death from the third floor balcony of his hotel room in the luxurious CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires.
As investigations into his passing struggle onwards, those who were closest to Liam in the days leading up to his death are now coming under the spotlight. This now includes Liam's good pal Rogelio Nores, known as Roger, as well as two other people connected to the investigation.
The trio are all alleged to have played a role in causing the Strip That Down singer's death, with two being linked to supplying the narcotics to Liam. Roger, on the other hand, is being held responsible for "abandonment" - a claim he strongly denies.
Another two people who worked at the hotel are set to be questioned later on Thursday (December 19). But the three major suspects in the case have said they will be "retaining their right to remain silent" following their questioning via Zoom on Tuesday (December 17).
Roger's defence lawyer also told the judge that a written statement would be submitted to the court in due course; however, no more details on the contents of the statement were given. It comes as Roger said in a documentary made by TMZ that the former One Direction singer was "in good spirits and perfectly balanced" the day he died.
He also shut down claims that Liam had been acting erratically with fellow guests at the hotel and had been intoxicated just before he fell to his death. This, in turn, contradicts the toxicology report published by authorities in Argentina, who said that the singer had "alcohol, cocaine and antidepressants" in his system.
Good pal Roger continues to deny all claims made against him, releasing a statement in November that read: "I never abandoned Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened. There were over 15 people at the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left.
"I could have never imagined something like this would happen," Roger added. "I’ve given my statement to the prosecutor on October 17 as a witness and I haven't spoken to any police officer or prosecutor ever since; I wasn't Liam's manager. He was just my very dear friend."
It comes as the investigations into Liam's death continue to ramp up, with authorities now demanding to see CCTV footage of the star's fatal fall. The videos were found on a hard drive that had been handed over to police by a restaurant next door to the CasaSur Palermo hotel.
