Jason Kelce's brother Travis Kelce has supported the retired NFL player amid the controversy involving the use of a homophobic slur in an encounter on the weekend.

Footage that's circulated on social media is understood to show Jason, 37, being heckled outside Beaver Stadium in Pennsylvania on Saturday. One person appears to call his brother Travis, 35, a "f****t" for dating singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, 35. Jason then appeared to grab a phone - reportedly from the individual who heckled - and throw it to the floor, before appearing to retort: "Who's the f****t now?"

Jason later addressed the situation and both brothers spoke about it on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast. Kansas City Chiefs player Travis supported his sibling and said that he was "owning" his behaviour after reacting to hearing a homophobic slur.

Travis commented: "I know it's weighing on you, brother. That s*** sucks. You shouldn't feel this much ... obviously the scrutiny and the media like view on it and everybody passing around the videos that are out there. That's gonna make it a bigger situation than, I think, what it really is. He continued: "The real situation is that you had some f***ing clown come up to you and talk about your family. You reacted in a way that was defending your family and you might have used some words that you regret using.

"And that's a situation where you've just got to kinda learn from and own, and I think you owning it and you speaking about shows how sincere you are to a lot of people in this world and shows that, especially what you said on Monday night, that you choose not to f***ing ... you don't choose hate. That's just not who you are. I love you brother. I think you said that perfectly."

Travis' comments came in response to Jason once again addressing the situation in the opening moments of the podcast. Jason said: "I'm just gonna address it because I feel it needs one more time and then hopefully we can stop talking about this really stupid situation that occurred.

"I'm not happy about the situation. Me reacting gave him the time of day and it also gave this situation notoriety, that's what I regret. It didn't deserve attention. It's really stupid and if I just keep walking it's a f***ing, it's a nothing burger. Nobody sees it. Now, it's out there and it just perpetuates more hate." He added: "The thing that I regret the most is saying that word to be honest with you. The word he used is just f***ing ridiculous and it takes it to another level. It's just off the wall and f***ing over the line. It's dehumanising and it got under my skin."

Jason continued: "I know now that I shouldn't have done that because now there's a video out there of me saying that word, him saying that word and it's not good for anybody. [...] Now there's a video that is very hateful that is now online that has been seen by millions of people and I share fault in perpetuating it and having that out there."
